Plantation Shutters

Full Height Shutters

The most popular shutter style, full height shutters as the name suggests, fit from top to bottom of a window or door(s). Providing flexibility for privacy and light control, these shutters may feature a mid-rail or privacy bar for dimensional strength on larger panel systems, allowing divided controllable louvers where tier on tier panels are not required.

Meaning bottom section louvres can be closed for privacy, whilst the top section of the panel louvres may remain open to provide natural light to enter a room. A variety of materials may be used for full height shutters, depending on the width of your windows and the number of panels needed to cover the area.

Tier-on-Tier Shutters

Tier-on-tier shutters offer a similar look to full height shutters, with the exception that there are two independent full height shutter panels placed one above the other. Top and bottom panels may be opened separately. Louvre sets also operate independently. This design allows you to have the top panels open while leaving the bottom panels in place for additional privacy.

Café Style Shutters

This design provides excellent privacy at eye-level. These shutters are popular for ground floor windows that are overlooked by passers-by and upper floor windows where privacy from overlooking neighbours is key.

Curtains or blinds are often used in combination with café-style shutters for additional privacy or light control.

Solid Shutters

Solid wood panel shutters cover the window entirely. They are perfect for blocking out light, providing additional insulation in draughty older properties, reducing outside noise whilst giving a cosy feel and look. Light sensitive people who have trouble sleeping will love these shutters as they make a room very dark. Alternatively, you can have them bi-folded back so as well as bedrooms they can be used in rooms such as lounges to fully open the shutters during the day.

Tracked Shutters

Rather than fitting shutters in the usual manner with hinges and frames, these slide in a track allowing them to open and close in a concertina-like manner. This sliding-hinge is pivotal to the strength of this system, perfect for easy access through a patio or bi-folding doors. They can be pulled back to make the most of a view as room dividers, wardrobes and for other areas where the shutters need to be opened and closed regularly.

Special Shape Shutters

Bespoke panels to fit unusual and awkward shaped windows. As architects specifications and designs have become more creative, the ability to make traditional window coverings work provides more challenges. So whether your window is round, triangular, an arch or any shape you can still have perfect shutters.

Bay Window Shutters

Plantation shutters fit perfectly with the angles of bay windows. Our shutters provide the right fit for all types of bay window configurations including bay windows of three, five and seven panels. We have a full range of quality bay frames, including a 90-degree version for square bay windows. In addition, we create custom angle shutter solutions to achieve a seamless look and fit for shutters in these areas. Bay windows Square, Round or angled- we can cover them all.
